Protect Your Xmas Gifts

Research found that 45% of UK adults planned to buy electronic devices for Christmas in 2024, highlighting how popular smart technology has become as a festive purchase. It would not come as a surprise to see that figure rise even more for Christmas 2025.

It is very important to protect these devices and using two-factor-authentication really is a must. It doesn’t take long to do and adds another layer of protection against hackers. The last thing you need is your new Christmas gift being compromised when you’ve only just had it.

How?

It isn’t as complicated as it sounds, it simply means using two forms of authentication to logon to an account. In most cases this will be a password which is factor one and a code sent to your mobile phone which is factor two. This is well worth doing to protect your accounts from hackers, if you are offered the option I would definitely take it.

There are other forms of authentication that can be used but password and mobile phone code are by far the most used in everyday life. It is quick and easy to do and for the sake of just adding a code sent to your phone makes your accounts so much safer.

However, if for example your mobile phone isn’t available you may well have the option to receive a code by email. Often there are alternative options to choose when logging on, just select the option which is easiest for you.
