One Billion Cyber Attacks on The UK

That’s right

Almost one billion early-stage cyber-attacks have been prevented in the past year in the UK thanks to a recent service deployed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

The results were announced by British Security Minister, Dan Jarvis, during the Financial Times’ Cyber Resilience Summit: Europe, held in London on 3rd December.

The Share and Defend service has blocked almost one billion attempts to access scam websites in less than a year.

“I took the opportunity to commend everyone involved for their dedication to this work,” the minister said.

Minister Jarvis said these first results of the Share and Defend service “show we are making Britain a hard target for cyber criminals by protecting businesses and citizens on a daily basis.”

UK Government Cyber Attack

“The government will continue to use technology and to build strong partnerships across industry to secure our nation against threats and boost economic growth,” he added,

The NCSC was formed under the Tory government and damn good idea it was (god know they didn’t have many), a central point to protect us which is more important than ever.

It’s hard to fathom them numbers and understand how often we are attacked every hour of every day many times over. The scale of cyber threats today are almost impossible to believe but they are real. England needs protection and the NCSC play a vital part in defending us against these threats.
